Team India are scheduled to play England early next month. This morning a report claimed that a player has tested positive for Covid and is asymptomatic.

The players name was out hours later the report was viral, the player happened to be Rishabh Pant. Team India were given a vacation in England with a long gap between the world test championship final and start of the England series. So, players when asked for vacation were granted 3 weeks off and there were no restriction.

Few days back players from the English squad who were playing Sri Lanka had tested positive being in the bio bubble and also for a fact cases in England covid cases raising rapidly and BCCI secretary, Jay Shah warned players to be safe and not to go out at crowded places. Despite a message from the BCCI secretary, Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri was seen out a few times in the wimbledon games, few players were seen out roaming on streets and a few were at the wembley stadium for the Euro games. Players who have travelled with families were not spotted out a lot.

Rishabh Pant had tested positive last Friday and will end his isolation period in the next 3-4 days and if test’s negative twice then will join the team in Durham, he will be tested on the 18th. Currently is said to be asymptomatic. He had fever for two days post the 2nd dose vaccination which the medical team felt was the side effect of the vaccine but turned out to be the virus. Pant is self isolated at his sister’s house in England who’s there for studies. Rishabh Pant has had a negative image but needs to be understood this could have affected anyone of all those out in public and it’s unfortunate that it happened to be one, that’s Rishabh Pant.

Today late afternoon there was a new report out that claimed a few more positive cases within the Indian camp. More names were out and those were off, throwdown specialist Dayanand who tested positive on 14th and his close contacts Bharat Arun (bowling coach), Wriddhiman Saha and Abhimanyu Easwaran enter isolation remain in the team hotel in London.

All associated with the Indian team those have tested negative have left for Durham today. India will be playing a practise game with English county XI starting on the 20th and will be a 4 day game, if Rishabh Pant and Saha don’t test negative twice by the 18th or 19th to reach Durham then KL Rahul will keep stumps. To cut the risk players left in multiple buses and are also taking the lateral flow test on daily basis.

A report claims that chief selector, Chetan Sharma met BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly in Kolkata yesterday and it’s expected that a few players might be sent to England as replacements. Nothing more or in detail has come out on this.
