Vinesh Phogat is an Indian wrestler, she was part of the Indian contingent touring Tokyo for the Olympics. On the 10th of August, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had handed a temporary suspension to Vinesh over her actions during the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Vinesh had travelled to Tokyo from Hungary where she was training with her coach Woller Akos without giving any details to the Wrestling Federation of India, she trained with Woller’s wife that resulted in Vinesh turning a poor wrestler and his wife Marianna a better one and this damaged Vinesh’s chances.

Vinesh when travelled to Tokyo for the Olympics refused to stay with the Indian contingent on the same floor, she wanted to stay on a different floor. She didn’t train with the Indian contingent as she would always trained with her Hungarian coach and his wife. The final one, she refused to wear the designated Indian jersey and went with a Nike sponsored jersey turning out to be a very serious breach of protocol. These were the charges on Vinesh was informed to respond by the 16th of August in her defence, and today on the 15th she did respond to the WFI.

Wrestler Vinesh has responded to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) apologizing after the temporary suspension. Vinesh has sent an e-mail, the committee will see her response and will depend if they are satisfied or not and the disciplinary committee will take the final call.

Vinesh Phogat is a promising talent as she’s the first Indian Woman Wrestler to win Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian Games, fair to say a medal was expected from her at the Olympics but didn’t happen this time. She remains a promising podium finish Athlete for future. That is it on Vinesh and the suspension story for now.
