WOMEN’S TABLE TENNIS, GROUP A SINGLES CLASS 4 : Indian paddler Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel proceeds to the knockouts after defeating Great Britain’s Megan Shackleton 3-1 in a thrilling contest. Bhavina started the first round on front foot with a good start that later saw a comeback from Megan but wasn’t good enough to defeat the Indian as Bhavani won the opening set 11-7. The second set was again a great battle but this time it was Megan who at the end bagged the set 11-9. The third set was the best of lot that went down the wire, was a neck to neck contest and it was Bhavina who held her nerve and won the set 17-15. The fourth game was again a great battle but this time Bhavina got the better of Megan as she won the set 13-11 from the tied 11-11 stage, that was also the match win for Bhavani and India had their first win at Paralympics 2020.

WOMEN’S TABLE TENNIS, GROUP D SINGLES CLASS 3 : Indian paddler Sonalben Madhubhai Patel loses 1-2 to Korean Lee Mi-Gyu. A front foot start for the Indian as she put up a brilliant fight in the opening set where she was trailing and then managed to level the scores at 10 and first got to the 12 point mark bagging the opening set. Sonalben lost momentum in the second set as Lee managed a strong comeback bagging the set comfortably with a 11-5 margin, Lee didn’t lose her momentum as she with sheer brilliance and domination won the third set 11-3. The final set saw a steller show as Sonalben at a stage was trailing 2-6, Lee extended her lead by 8 points but the Indian bounced back reducing the margin to 5-10, further reduced her trail to 9-10 and it was the Korean who in the dying minutes held her never and got the winning point, Lee bagged the fourth set with a 11-9 margin and bagged the match win. End of road for Sonalben despite the fight, excellent effort from the Indian para paddler.
