MS DHONI’S INCLUSION AS MENTOR QUESTIONED, BCCI OFFICIAL HAS HIS SAY.

Indian announced a strong 15+3 man squad yesterday and MS Dhoni was named as the team’s mentor. Jay Shah (BCCI Secretary) proposed MS Dhoni for the mentorship role and MS Dhoni accepted the offer, senior players and Ravi Shastri too were informed on MS Dhoni’s inclusion and all were on the same page.

Sanjeev Gupta has written to the BCCI apex council levelling conflict of intrest allegations against MS Dhoni. BCCI confirmed the development and have said, no logic behind the complain as the team already had been selected and MS will only guide the players. The official further stated the T20 World Cup is after the IPL and there’s no confirmation if MS Dhoni will be continuing with CSK in the next season.

Sanjeev Gupta raised a query to the BCCI apex council clause 38 (4), the clause meant that one person cannot be holding two separate posts. (MS Dhoni, the CSK skipper and MS Dhoni, the Indian team’s mentor). The BCCI official said that going by the perverse logic of the frivolous complain, the Indian captain Virat Kohli should not even participate in the IPL no ? and also said a mentor has no say in selection and will only guide the players and MS isn’t an active international player. The Apex Council will need to consult its legal team to check the ramifications, it’s safe to believe to an extent that MS Dhoni will remain with the Indian squad as mentor, but there will be a lot behind the scenes.
