OMAN’S T20 WORLD CUP SQUAD.

Oman, co-hosts of the T20 World Cup have named their squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, Oman have named an experienced 15 man squad for the mega ICC event that’s scheduled to commence on 17th of October. Veteran Zeeshan Maqsood will lead the squad as they eye super 12 qualification.

Oman will first be competing in round 1 fixtures, Oman have recently played Indian domestic side Mumbai for their lead up to the world cup and did perform well. Oman lack a bit in their batting but it’s their bowling that’s winning them games in the shorter format of the game.

Oman’s batting lineup is experienced and is a core group, Jatinder Singh, skipper Zeeshan Maqsood and all-rounder Khawar Ali are Oman’s hope, if Oman have to make their way through to the super 12, all three will have to have a good season. Middle order do have batters who can manage fair bit of striking at the death. Middle and lower order, Nadeem, Sandeep and Suraj need to ensure cameos that’s turn invaluable for the team with bowling being their strength.

Spin department isn’t a concern for Oman having Aayan Khan and Nester Dhamba along with leg spinner Khawar Ali. Sufyan too has been around the squad for long but doesn’t have a lot of match experience. Pace bowling is lead by Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah do need a bit of working and are their go to frontline pacers.

OMAN’S SQUAD FOR T20 WC : Zeeshan Maqsood (C), Aqib Ilyas (VC), Jatinder Singh, Khawar Ali, Mohammad Nadeem, Ayaan Khan, Suraj Kumar, Sandeep Goud, Nester Dhamba, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan, Naseem Khushi, Sufyan Mehmood, Fayyaz Butt, Khurram Khan.

Round 1 fixtures for Oman, they kick-start their campaign playing PNG on 17th of October, on 19th they take on Bangladesh and for their final round 1 game they play Scotland on 21st of October.

Not an easy task for Oman, they’ll be up against competitive XI’s, if Oman manage to make their way through to the super 12 that will be an inspiring finish for Omani public.
